Thinklabs One Digital Stethoscope Q&A

Question 1

What type of battery does this stethoscope use?

Answer:

This stethoscope uses a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. Lithium Ion batteries are known for their long life and convenience, meaning you don't have to frequently replace batteries, which is both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.

Question 2

Is the stethoscope compatible with hearing aid streamers?

Answer:

Yes, the stethoscope can connect directly to hearing aid streamers, which then send audio to the hearing aids. Streamers are devices that wirelessly transmit audio from external sources to hearing aids, making it easier for users to hear clinical sounds directly through their aids.

Question 3

What is included in the package with the stethoscope?

Answer:

The package includes one digital stethoscope, Thinklabs studio performance in-ear headphones, two Thinklink connection cables, a 3.5mm male-to-male audio cable, a 4-inch male-to-male elbow audio cable, a USB-type charger (100-240V), three ear tips (small, medium, large), and a carrying case. Including all necessary accessories ensures you have everything required for immediate use and convenient transport.

Question 4

What is the standard headphone jack size on this stethoscope?

Answer:

The stethoscope features a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. This is the most common audio connector, making it compatible with a wide range of headphones and audio devices, which adds flexibility for the user.

Question 5

What ear tip sizes are included with the stethoscope?

Answer:

The package includes three ear tip sizes: Small (0.9 cm), Medium (1.1 cm), and Large (1.3 cm). Having multiple ear tip sizes ensures a comfortable and secure fit for users with different ear canal sizes, which can improve sound quality and comfort.

Question 6

What is the power output of the headphone amplifiers?

Answer:

The headphone amplifiers can drive low-impedance audio headphones with a power output of 45.2 milliwatts (mW). Low-impedance headphones require more power to perform optimally, so this feature ensures high-quality audio even with demanding headphones.

Question 7

How many headphone amplifiers does the stethoscope have?

Answer:

The stethoscope has dedicated headphone amplifiers for each channel. Having separate amplifiers for the left and right channels allows for true stereo sound, which can enhance the audio experience and make it easier to distinguish subtle clinical sounds.

Question 8

What frequency ranges can the stethoscope filter?

Answer:

The stethoscope can filter sounds from very low frequencies (for low-pitched heart sounds like S3) to higher frequencies (such as lung sounds) and several frequencies in between. This versatility allows healthcare professionals to tailor their auscultation to different clinical needs.

Question 9

Can you use the stethoscope with Beats Executive over-the-ear headphones?

Answer:

Yes, the stethoscope is compatible with Beats Executive over-the-ear headphones. These headphones are known for strong bass response, which is critical for hearing heart and lung sounds clearly.

Question 10

Can you use the stethoscope with Bose SoundTrue on-ear headphones?

Answer:

Yes, the stethoscope works with Bose SoundTrue on-ear headphones. Bose headphones provide high-quality audio, making them a good choice for users seeking clarity and comfort.

Question 11

What is the volume range of the stethoscope?

Answer:

The stethoscope features fully adjustable volume, ranging from 1 to 10. This wide range of volume control is especially helpful for people with varying hearing needs or when working in noisy environments.

Question 12

How much does the stethoscope amplify sounds?

Answer:

The stethoscope amplifies sounds over 100 times. This high level of amplification is especially valuable for medical professionals who need to hear faint heart and lung sounds clearly, and it is also helpful for users with hearing impairments.

Question 13

Is the stethoscope compatible with streamers for cochlear implants?

Answer:

Yes, the stethoscope connects to streamers that interface with cochlear implants. This compatibility means users with cochlear implants can directly receive auscultation sounds, enhancing accessibility for a broader range of hearing-impaired clinicians.

Question 14

Does the stethoscope work with iPhones and iPads?

Answer:

Yes, you can use the Thinklabs Stethoscope App to record and visualize heart sounds on your iPhone or iPad. The app allows you to scroll, zoom, edit, save, and email sounds, making digital documentation and sharing easy and efficient.

Question 15

What kind of charger comes with the stethoscope?

Answer:

A USB-type charger that supports 100-240V is included. This wide voltage range means you can charge your stethoscope in most countries, which is particularly useful for traveling healthcare professionals.

Question 16

How can you adjust the frequency response on the stethoscope?

Answer:

You can adjust the frequency response by applying more or less pressure on the diaphragm. This allows you to tailor the sound to different types of body sounds, making it easier to focus on specific frequencies like heart or lung sounds.

Question 17

Can you use the stethoscope with headphones over hearing aids?

Answer:

Yes, you can wear headphones over both open-fit and closed-fit behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids when using the stethoscope. This allows users with hearing aids to benefit from amplified sound and high-quality audio during auscultation, addressing the unique needs of hearing-impaired professionals.

Question 18

Does the stethoscope allow you to set filter preferences?

Answer:

Yes, you can set two filters as "favorites" for quick selection. Filter settings help you quickly switch between preferred sound profiles, such as focusing on heart or lung sounds, which can streamline your workflow during exams.

Question 19

What kind of headphones are included with the stethoscope?

Answer:

Thinklabs studio quality in-ear headphones are included with the stethoscope. These headphones are designed to deliver excellent bass for heart sounds and clear treble, enhancing both clinical and personal audio experiences.
